New Delhi, The Women’s Delhi Premier League served up a nail-biting semi-final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as Central Delhi Queens edged past North Delhi Strikers by just one wicket to secure their place in the final.

Chasing 118 runs, the Queens faced early setbacks and slipped to 43 for 4. Their hopes were kept alive by Monika, who fought hard with a gritty 36 off 39 balls. Her run-out, however, left the team in deep trouble as the lower order was forced to carry the chase forward.
The climax came in the final over with the Queens needing 14 runs and only two wickets left. They scored 12 from the first five balls, but the pressure mounted when Parunika Sisodia was stumped on a wide delivery from Nazma, the Strikers’ star bowler.

With two runs required from two balls, last batter Priya Mishra lofted a shot straight to mid-on, but fortune favored the Queens as the fielder spilled the chance and the ball rolled away to the boundary. The dramatic win was sealed with one ball to spare.
Earlier, North Delhi Strikers managed 117 for 4 in 20 overs, recovering from 53 for 4 thanks to an unbeaten 64-run partnership between Nazma (40 off 30 balls) and Laxmi Yadav (28 off 40). Ayushi Soni also contributed a quickfire 27 off 19.
Despite Nazma’s brilliant bowling spell of 3/24, the Strikers fell agonizingly short. The victory ensured that Central Delhi Queens will now contest for the championship title in the grand finale.
