New Delhi – East Delhi Riders registered a convincing 7-wicket win over New Delhi Tigers in Season 2 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Chasing a target of 173, the Riders crossed the finish line in 18.2 overs, thanks to a composed and unbeaten 63 from opener Arpit Rana.
Rana’s 44-ball knock included 6 boundaries and 2 sixes and anchored the chase brilliantly. He was supported by Sujal Singh, who hit 26 off 19 balls, and Hardik Sharma, whose explosive 30 off 12 deliveries turned the momentum firmly in East Delhi’s favour. Skipper Anuj Rawat contributed a quick 16 before Mayank Rawat finished off the chase with a solid 32\ off 26 balls.
For the Tigers,Himmat Singh was the standout bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 26 runs. However, the rest of the attack failed to contain the flow of runs as East Delhi’s batters dominated throughout.
Earlier, New Delhi Tigers posted 172/6 in their 20 overs after electing to bat first. Shivam Gupta (38 off 32), Dhruv Kaushik (24), and Himmat Singh (24) laid the foundation before Deepak Punia unleashed a late blitz with a 15-ball 41, featuring 3 fours and 4 sixes. Aryan Dalal chipped in with an unbeaten 31 to take the team to a competitive total.
East Delhi’s bowling was led by Rounak Waghela, who returned with impressive figures of 3/18 in his 4 overs.Navdeep Saini, Akhil Chaudhary, and Mayank Rawat claimed one wicket each.
With this win, East Delhi Riders strengthened their position in the points table while New Delhi Tigers were left searching for answers after another tough outing.
