Saransh Jain Earns Maiden India Test Call-Up After Stellar Domestic Performances

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain has received his maiden call-up to the Indian Test team after years of consistent performances in domestic cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday named the 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with Saransh among the standout inclusions.

The Indian team will begin its tour with a four-day practice match in Colombo from August 7, before taking on Sri Lanka in the opening Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. The second Test will be played at the SSC, Colombo, from August 23 to 27.

Saransh’s selection comes on the back of an outstanding domestic career with Madhya Pradesh, where he has established himself as one of the country’s most reliable all-rounders. In 54 First-Class matches, the all-rounder has amassed 2,223 runs, including two centuries and 14 half-centuries, while also claiming 188 wickets, underlining his ability to contribute with both bat and ball.

Expressing his delight after receiving the long-awaited national call-up, Saransh said representing India in Test cricket is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.

“It is an incredible honour to be selected for the Indian Test team. Representing India has always been my biggest dream, and seeing it come true is a very special moment for me and my family. I am grateful to the BCCI selectors, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, my coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey. Every match in domestic cricket has taught me valuable lessons, and I will cherish this opportunity,” he said.

Saransh has also enjoyed an impressive 2026 season in the Madhya Pradesh League, where he played a key role for the Royal Nimar Eagles, further strengthening his case for national selection with impactful all-round performances.

His inclusion in the Indian Test squad is another milestone for Madhya Pradesh cricket, reflecting the state’s strong domestic cricket structure and its growing reputation for producing players capable of succeeding at the international level.

Shubman Gill (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal and Saransh Jain.
