Jitin Gulati is on a roll, as after making a name in Hindi films, the actor is making big strides in Telugu cinema. Recently, it was announced that Jitin has joined Akshaye Khanna in the mythological thriller Mahakali, and as it turns out, even before the film’s release in the New Year, the actor will be closing 2026 with his big Telugu debut in Prabhas-starrer Fauji.
While details of his roles remain under wraps, Jitin reveals he plays a pivotal role in Prabhas’ film that takes the story in a new direction, and it is actually the fastest he has ever got a film. “I’ve always been very interested in doing Telugu cinema, more so in the last few years because of the kind of impact they’ve had. And in 2024, I decided that I’m going to give it a good try and started meeting producers, directors, and other people in the business there,” he shares, adding that a meeting with a journalist in October 2024 led his photos to reach the director, Hanu Raghavapadi.
“I met him in November for a meeting. He saw my showreel, and after watching for about two minutes, he started telling me about the story and the character graph. Within 10 minutes, he told one of his team members something in Telugu. As I left the meeting after another 10 minutes, that team member told me that we’ll have to discuss dates and money. I asked, ‘Have I got the film?’ She said, ‘Yes, sir said you are the character.’ I was very surprised. That’s the fastest I have ever gotten a film,” he quips, adding, “I’m very proud that I am getting to start in the Telugu industry with a film like Fauji and with a director like Mr. Hanu Raghavapudi.”
Jitin has shot for almost a month for his part and still has about a fortnight’s shoot left before the release. He is grateful to his director for the opportunity. “I’m genuinely grateful to Hanu sir for giving me the start in the Telugu industry and completely trusting me. It’s completely his conviction that I’m a part of this big film. He is conviction personified. I can say this with utmost surety that he’s going to be one of the biggest directors that our country has seen. Sita Ramam is an example of what he can do, and with this film, he surpassed everything,” he says.
