Cotton Plus Collaborates with Dr. Vivek Bindra and Bada Business Private Limited, Achieves Faster Inventory Movement and Strengthens Demand-Driven Retail Operations

Cotton Plus, a Navi Mumbai-based garment retail business founded by Mr. Bindeshwar Gupta, has collaborated with under the mentorship of to streamline retail operations, improve inventory productivity, and build a stronger foundation for scalable growth.

Operating through stores in Seawoods and Kharghar, Cotton Plus has built a loyal customer base by offering affordable and comfort-focused apparel for men, women, and children. The company specializes in cotton shirts, kurtis, casual wear, and everyday fashion designed around functionality, quality, and accessibility. Over the years, the brand has positioned itself as a trusted neighborhood retail destination catering to practical family fashion needs.

As the business expanded, Cotton Plus began facing operational inefficiencies that affected inventory productivity and cash flow management. Prior to the collaboration, the company relied heavily on bulk procurement practices, resulting in excess stock accumulation and slower inventory movement. The stock-to-sales ratio stood at 8X, indicating significantly higher inventory holding compared to sales performance.

At the same time, the inventory turnover ratio remained limited to only 2–3 times annually, reflecting slow stock rotation and reduced responsiveness to changing customer preferences. Slow-moving inventory also increased the risk of outdated merchandise while restricting the company’s ability to invest aggressively in high-performing product categories.

To address these operational challenges, Cotton Plus partnered with Bada Business Private Limited through a structured transformation initiative guided by Dr. Vivek Bindra. The collaboration focused on improving inventory planning systems, streamlining procurement processes, and implementing data-backed operational strategies.

The transformation process began with a detailed FSN-based inventory analysis. Products across stores were categorized into fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving segments to identify sales-driving SKUs and eliminate inefficient inventory investment. This enabled the company to prioritize high-demand categories while reducing dependency on slow-moving stock.

A comprehensive stock audit was also conducted across all outlets to identify discrepancies between physical inventory and recorded stock data. Standardization of inventory records improved stock visibility and helped management teams make more accurate purchasing and replenishment decisions.

One of the most impactful operational changes came through the implementation of a demand-driven buying strategy. Instead of relying on bulk buying patterns, Cotton Plus shifted toward procurement planning based on real-time sales movement, seasonal demand trends, and customer buying behavior. This significantly improved inventory utilization and reduced excess stock holding.

Vendor rationalization further strengthened operational efficiency. Supplier performance was evaluated based on product movement, sales contribution, and profitability. The company streamlined its vendor network by reducing reliance on underperforming suppliers while strengthening partnerships with vendors capable of faster replenishment and better-performing product designs.

Following the implementation of these strategies, Cotton Plus achieved measurable operational improvements. The stock-to-sales ratio reduced from 8X to 2.5X, enabling leaner inventory management and faster stock movement. Simultaneously, the inventory turnover ratio improved from 2–3 times annually to 5–6 times annually, reflecting stronger alignment between customer demand and inventory planning.

The operational transformation has also improved working capital efficiency and sales productivity, creating a stronger platform for expansion. Cotton Plus is now preparing to increase its retail footprint from three stores to more than ten outlets across Navi Mumbai and nearby regions. The company is also projecting significant revenue growth supported by improved operational control and faster inventory cycles.

Sharing his thoughts on the transformation, founder Mr. Bindeshwar Gupta said, “The collaboration helped us move from instinct-based operations to structured business systems. We now understand customer demand much better, manage inventory more efficiently, and operate with greater confidence as we scale.”

The Cotton Plus case demonstrates how data-driven inventory management and operational restructuring can significantly improve retail business performance. Through its collaboration with Dr. Vivek Bindra and Bada Business Private Limited, the company has strengthened its operational foundation and positioned itself for sustainable long-term growth in the garment retail sector.
